Starting Monday, June 4th workers will start repairs on the Michigan Ave. Bridge over the Grand River.
The first stage of the project will close down the westbound lanes.
M-DOT said it will post a detour route which will ask drivers who are traveling west over the river to take Cedar Street to Kalamazoo to Grand Avenue.
Work on this phase of the project will continue through the end of June.
Once the first portion is complete, crews will start working on the eastbound lanes of the bridge.
That’s set to begin in late June and last until mid-August.
Detours will be posted during that part of the project as well.
Drivers will be asked to take Grand Ave. to Shiawassee Street then to Cedar Street.
Crews will suspend work during the Common Ground Music Festival and the 4th of July.
According to M-DOT, the bridge will cost roughly $600,000 and isn’t expected to be completed until September 30th.
