UPDATE: House fire in East Lansing under investigation

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – UPDATE (4:41 p.m.): A house fire that happened this morning in East Lansing is under investigation.

The fire started around 10:00 a.m. and when crews arrived flames and heavy smoke could be seen.

Firefighters were busting out windows to vent the home, but it was heavily damaged.

Firefighters tell 6 news that the homeowner was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but is expected to make a full recovery.

ORIGINAL STORY: One person was taken to a local hospital after fire roared through an East Lansing home this morning.

East Lansing firefighters were called to a house on the 100 block of Ivanhoe just before 10:00 a.m.

There was heavy smoke and fire that crews quickly controlled.

It’s not known yet what caused the fire.

The condition of the person taken to a local hospital has not been released.
