UPDATE: (2/15) — The Lansing Police Department has released the name of the 43-year-old man shot and killed Monday.

Arthur Newcombe of Lansing was shot on the 2000 block of Teel Ave. Monday morning.

Newcombe was later found at a flooring store on the 100 block of East Mount Hope Ave. and was pleasing for help.

A woman who lived with Newcombe was arrested, but her name has not yet been released.

UPDATE: (3:00 p.m.) — A 43-year-old man who was shot Monday morning has passed away and the Lansing Police Department is now calling the incident a homicide.

LPD says they were called to the 2000 block of Teel Ave. around 7:58 a.m. Monday morning for a reported shooting.

Officers were also told that a man with a gunshot wound was in the 100 block of E. Mount Hope Ave.

The officers found the man and gave him first-aid until the Lansing Fire Department showed up and he was eventually taken to a hospital.

Officers said they determined he was shot in the 2000 block of Teel Ave.

When they arrived, they talked with a 42-year-old woman, the suspect, and arrested her without incident. She was taken to the Lansing Police Detention facilily.

Investigators were later told the victim passed away at 12:25 p.m. and the investigation was changed to a homicide.


LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Lansing Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place in the 2000 Block of Teel Ave. near Washington Ave. and Mt. Hope Rd.

Officials say this incident was a domestic one and at one point a victim walked into a nearby business.

A Lansing Police spokesperson called the injuries the victim got ‘non-life threatening.’

A Crime Scene Investigation unit is currently on the scene.
