The 10th annual Hair, Makeup & Fashion Competition took place at the Potter Center at Jackson College on Wednesday.
The event gave high school juniors and seniors a chance to showcase what they’ve been learning at the Jackson Area Career Center Cometology Program.
The juniors used mannequins while the seniors used live models.
The results of the competition for the juniors was:
First place: Olivia Applegate of Vandercook Lake with Diamond Ice Theme
Second place: Kennedy Dunlap of Napoleon with Wizard of Oz Theme
Third Place: Kylee Mulcahy of Jackson High with Goddess of Color Theme
Honorable Mention: Maesyn Hynes of Vandercook Lake with Forest Fairy Theme
Honorable Mention: Alicia Jiminez of Vandercook Lake with Candyland Theme
The results of the competition for the seniors was:
First place: Sloan Bladowski from the Jackson Area Career Center, attending Northwest High School with Simplistic Elegance
Second place: Bre Cronkhite of Hillsdale with Peacock Warrior
Third Place: Hannah Kimble of Hillsdale with Post War
Honorable Mention: Logan Callway of Hillsdale with Lady Gaga
Honorable Mention: Essence Morgan from Jackson Area Career Center attending Jackson High with Confidence Within
The competition is judged by industry members including salon owners and stylists which gives the students an opportunity to build relationships that could lead to future employment.
While the event was free to attend, guests were asked to make a donation to Go Hungry 4 Hunger which is a local non-profit that raises money for more than a dozen food pantries. Go Hungry 4 Hunger raised $557.12 or approximately 3,342 meals as well as receiving canned food donations.
