Awareness drive launches for MiABLE savings plan

Michigan

State officials launched a new awareness campaign Monday for the “MiABLE program” that helps people with disabilities save for the future.

The program allows disabled veterans and other people with disabilities and their families to save money without losing their benefits.

The “I will never lose” campaign encourages those with disabilities, and their advocates, to open a MiABLE acccount.

“I’m passionate about being able to share information and resources with those that do have special needs and disabilities and I just feel it’s really important to share this information with them so they can also tap into this resource,” said MiABLE advocate Kathie Martin.

Nearly 300,000 people are eligible for the program, yet only 2,000 are currently enrolled.
