Suspect shot by Michigan state trooper following stolen car crash

UPDATE: 4/13/2021 @ 1:38 P.M. (WLNS)— A 20-year-old male suspect was shot by a Michigan State Police trooper in Livingston County Tuesday morning, during an investigation into a stolen car.

According to Michigan State Police, this morning deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff were investigating a stolen vehicle, that investigation resulted in a crash near Burkhart Road.

An armed suspect from Grand Rapids exited the car following the crash and was shot by a Michigan State Police Trooper.

The suspect was then taken to a University of Michigan hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No troopers or deputies were hurt during the incident.

HOWELL, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan State Police say a trooper was involved in a “critical incident” in Howell Township Tuesday morning.

It’s happening on Burkhart Road right across the freeway from Tanger Outlets.

Detectives from the Third District Investigative Response Team (IRT) are looking into the incident now.

Burkhart Road is closed in the area.
