If you’re a customer of Consumers Energy electric you could be seeing a hike in your bill.

The Michigan Public Service Commission today okayed a $99 million rate increase.

That means a residential customer who uses 500 kilowatt hours of electricity a month will see their monthly bill increase about $1.62.

The new rates take effect January 10.

As part of the agreement reached today Consumers Energy has agreed to not file for another rate increase before January 1, 2020.
