JACKSON, MI (WLNS) – Consumers Energy officials are warning people about scams.
According to senior public information director Brian Wheeler, more than 900 scam attempts have been made this year in the Great Lakes state with the victims paying out $50,000 or more. In Jackson, that number drops to 45 scam attempts with $500 paid out.
Representatives from Consumers Energy would like to remind you that they will never call demanding payment.
Coming up tonight on WLNS 6 News at 11, Jackson Bureau reporter Joe Gebhardt talked with the company to find out how scammers are preying on people and what you can do to prevent this crime.
