Defendant pleads guilty for second degree murder

Jerred Trashon-Malik Ballard entered a guilty plea in connection to the death of Zachary Frey.

According to a press release from the Jackson County Prosecutor, Ballard put in a plea of guilty to second degree murder and felony firearm. The maximum penalty for second degree murder is life in prison while felony firearm carries a mandatory two year sentence.

The plea comes after a homicide investigation that began on November 6th, 2018.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 16th.
