Homeless Angels to expand to Shiawassee County

OWOSSO, Mich (WLNS) - The Homeless Angels organization that began in Lansing is expanding its services to Owosso.

Before the end of the year, the Homeless Angels plan to open a shelter located at 218 N. Park Street in Owosso that will serve 20 individuals and two families every day.

The area hasn't had a homeless shelter since the Salvation Army temporary shelter closed in March 2018.

“Owosso has a very serious need to help fight homelessness,” said Tim Baise, president of the Lansing Homeless Angels, in a news release. “This is a major step forward in our ability to expand services and provide a continuum of care for the homeless population."

Plans are that the Owosso shelter will have separate facilities for men and women, and special accommodations for families.

The shelter will have showers, laundry, a commercial kitchen along with a small food pantry and a diaper service.
