A Jackson city council member is headed to trial on a felony assault charge.
Police and prosecutors say Andrew Frounfelker, 41, attacked his girlfriend last month at their home in downtown Jackson.
She gave emotional testimony today, and told the court he abused her often.
“Evidence presented at the hearing showed that the victim suffered facial fractures, strangulation injuries, and a black eye,” said Prosecutor Jerry Jarzynka.
Frounfelker is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation.
If convicted he could be sentenced to ten years in prison.
