The Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission is recommending that the Michigan Supreme Court remove Livingston County 53rd District Court Judge Theresa M. Brennan from the bench.

The Commission also recommends that Brennan pay $35,570 in court costs, fees and expenses.

In the recommendation the Commission cited that Brennan failed to disclose the extent of her relationship with Detective Scott Furlong, who was involved in a trial she was hearing.

There were also complaints against Brennan regarding her failure to disqualify herself from her own divorce case and other conduct claims.

The Commission complaints were first filed in 2018.

The Michigan Supreme Court must now decide Brennan’s future on the bench.
