A 37-year-old Lansing man died in a fire early Monday morning in Saginaw.
According to our media partners at MLive, firefighters were dispatched around 2:15 a.m. Monday to the 2400 block of Bancroft Street for a structure fire.
The man, whose name has not been released, was found by firefighters inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation by Michigan State Police fire investigators has revealed the 37-year-old, a grandfather, two grandchildren — ages 17 and 11 — and a 9-month-old grandchild were inside the home when the fire broke out.
The grandfather and his grandchildren and great-grandchild were all able to escape.
Investigators are trying to determine a cause.
An autopsy has been requested to identify a cause of death.
