Local judge resigns from state judges group

LIVINGSTON CO., Mich (WLNS) - A district court judge in Livingston County has resigned from a state judge's association.

53rd District Court Judge Theresa Brennan decided to step down amid an ongoing criminal investigation.

The Michigan State Police is investigating Brennan for misconduct, including an affair she had with a State Police detective who testified in a murder case in her courtroom.

According to our media partners at WHMI Brennan was next in line to become president of the Michigan District Judges Association.

The current president's term expires in December.

Brennan's caseload has been reassigned during the investigation.
