A 60-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder today after the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of domestic assault on Friday April 12th.
According to the victim, his 47-year-old girlfriend, Larry Reeve got upset when his girlfriend received a phone call. A fight started after Reeve took the phone and threatened to kill her.
The situation escalated as the woman was thrown around the bedroom and then dragged around the house by his belt wrapped around her neck.
She told officers she could not breathe while this happened, but Reeve continued to assault the woman by taking a knife and holding it to her throat as well as slamming her head on the floor several times.
The woman escaped to the bathroom, but Reeve pushed his way in and held her head under water in a full bathtub.
Again the victim was holding her breath until she was dragged outside and her head was placed on cement steps as Reeve applied pressure to her neck.
The phone started to ring and Reeve answered it, as he spoke to the person on the phone he eventually calmed down and the victim told him to leave her house.
He was located nearby and arrested. According to the sheriff’s office alcohol was a factor in the incident.
Reeve has been charged with attempted murder while the victim was taken by ambulance to get further medical attention.
