MSU interim president injured during graduation ceremony

Michigan

Michigan State University Interim President Satish Udpa fell during the graduate commencement today.

He was on stage during the incident and the ceremony was stopped for nearly half an hour.

Udpa was taken from the ceremony on a stretcher to Sparrow Hospital where he is receiving medical attention.

The nature of Udpa’s health problem wasn’t immediately revealed.

Udpa was a university administrator and former engineering dean who was named acting president in January after the forced resignation of interim President John Engler.

Engler was ousted after saying some victims enjoyed publicity from the scandal involving imprisoned sexual abuser Larry Nassar, a campus sports doctor.
