Michigan State University is selling pieces of Spartan Stadium.
The MSU Athletic Department is replacing the turf at Spartan Stadium following the 2019 Spring Football Game on April 13th and up to 2500 pieces of Spartan Stadium turf may become available.
Sections of grass are being sold for $10 on the school’s surplus store website for up to six sections of turf per customer. Deposits will only be accepted up to 2500 sections, but placing a deposit is not a guarantee for getting any sections. If there are not enough sections, customers who placed deposits on unfilled orders will have their orders canceled and no charges will appear on their credit cards.
The hybrid Kentucky Blue Grass will be sold in nine square foot sections with rolls approximately 18″ x 72″.
The grass should be available for pickup on April 15 or soon after that date. According to the MSU website to keep the turfgrass healthy, it will need to be transplanted within five days of removal. Also, the MSU Surplus Store will not take responsibility for how the turf will grow for the purchaser.
Customers must present a printed copy of their receipt or the e-mailed confirmation to complete their pick up.
MSU Surplus will help load the sections, but ask that the customer bring an appropriate vehicle to transport heavy sections of grass and dirt.
The website is also selling three sections of the MSU Basketball team’s practice floor at prices ranging from $257.00 to $425.00. Each piece weighs about 80 to 100 pounds.
