Governor Whitmer was on the road in DeWitt and Portage today trying to drum up support for her road fix package.
While she did pitch her 45 cents a gallon gas tax hike, she did tell WLNS she was willing to look at an alternative plan that raises the $2.5 billion estimated to be needed for fixing the roads, but she says so far the Republicans have not offered anything.
Meanwhile, GOP leaders say they are engaged in a “very involved chat” with two or three different plans under review.
The governor says she would offer tax relief to address the issue of needy families being able to afford the tax hike. The governor’s major problem does not seem to be needy families, but GOP leaders who refuse to sign off on the gas tax hike.
