UPDATE (WLNS) — The U.S. Postal Service now has extended its suspended delivery, collections and pick up service to include Thursday, January 31, 2019.
Greater Michigan District Manager Krista Finazzo said Wednesday afternoon that the safety and well-being of their employees is of paramount concern.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this weather-related service disruption has caused.”
She also asked customers to maintain a clear path to their mail boxes including steps, porches, walkways and street approaches so that carriers will have an easier time when service resumes.
During the suspended service, some retail operations will stay open under a reduced schedule, closing early at 5:00 p.m. Customers still can pick up Express, prescriptions, etc. at the retail windows at those locations.
The Postal Service is suspending delivery Jan. 30 in the following 3-digit Michigan zip codes: 486-491, 493-499.
You can use the first three digits of your ZIP code to determine if your mail will be affected.
For example, if your ZIP code is 48912, your delivery would fall in the range of 3-digit numbers that begin with 486, 487, 489, 490 and 491.
We will update this story with more information as we learn it.
