UPDATE: Suspect arraigned in Jackson weekend homicide

UPDATE – Jackson County Prosecutor Jerry Jarzynka tells 6 News a suspect has been charged and arraigned for a fatal shooting Saturday.  Eiron Bankhead, 24, was charged today with Open Murder, felony firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.  He is charged with shooting Kordell Brzozowski, 19, outside an AutoZone store in Jackson Saturday afternoon.  

“The Jackson City Police Department did an excellent job investigating this incident,” said Prosecutor Jerry Jarzynka.

Bankhead’s preliminary examination has been set for June 10.

UPDATE – A 24-year-old man is in custody in connection with the Saturday shooting death of a man outside a Jackson business.  In a statement, Jackson Police Director Elmer Hitt said the shooting happened Saturday afternoon at 12:25 p.m. when two people got into a fight inside the AutoZone store on the 1200 block of Martin Luther King Jr Drive.  The fight spilled outside into the parking lot where the suspect allegedly shot the 19-year-old man several times.  The victim died later at a local hospital.  The suspect was tracked to the Menards on Page Avenue.  According to Hitt the two men knew each other.

ORIGINAL STORY – The investigation continues today into a homicide in Jackson on Saturday.

Jackson Police officers were called to the 1200 block of Martin Luther King Jr Drive.

When they arrived they discovered the body.

The sex of the dead person or any details of what caused the death have not been released.
