MSP troopers rescue pup from crash; dog steals hearts

BRIGHTON, Mich (WLNS) – This has been quite a day for Stella the goldendoodle pup.

Just after 5:00 a.m. today Michigan State Police troopers were called to a one car rollover accident on southbound US-23 near M-14.

The driver of the car, 59-year-old Maureen Wicker from Okemos, was removed from the car and taken to an Ann Arbor hospital with serious injuries.

While investigating the crash scene troopers found a pet carrier with a small dog inside. The dog was not injured but was frightened.

Rather than take the dog to a kennel the troopers brought Stella back to the Brighton Post for safekeeping.

While they were tracking down Stella’s people the dog was adopted by everyone at the Post.

She was being recruited for patrol duty but decided to take a nap on a secretary’s desk instead.

The family was finally located and came to pick up the dog when they went to visit Wicker in the hospital.

It’s pretty clear that Stella stole some hearts today but no charges will be filed.
