EAST LANSING, MI (WLNS) – Volunteers are needed to help Michigan officials with invasive species.

There is a new smart phone app created by a Michigan State scientist that allows people who think they have spotted an invasive species or plant to take a picture with their phone, make a few notes, and send it to state officials.

Amos Ziegler who developed the app says it can help experts map the spread of unwanted species and develop plans to stop them.
