An MSU student driving a moped on campus was killed after an accident involving a salt truck.

The Michigan State University Police are still investigating the accident and what led up to the crash. There have been no word on any further details about the driver.

Michigan State released a statement saying “in accordance with the family’s wishes, MSU will not be releasing the student’s name,” and adding “our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the entire MSU community.”

Julia Bartus walked past the incident around 9 am, just an hour after the accident happened and says she wished she was there sooner so she could have done something to help. She added that it was hard to tell it was a moped at first because it was hidden under neath the truck.

“I didn’t know that it happened like right there so I could see pieces of a moped when I could closer and I knew it was a moped because I could see like the registration and the seat,” said Bartus.
