Michigan State University’s Assistant Police Chief was placed on paid administrative leave, a spokesperson confirmed to 6 News.
MSU spokesperson Emily Guerrant says Valerie O’Brien is not allowed to access the department while on leave. Guerrant declined to comment on why O’Brien was placed on leave.
Guerrant also would not comment on if O’Brien’s leave is connected to an ongoing Title IX investigation into several employees at the department. She also said Officer JJ Bradac is on paid leave as well, and has been since February.
In March, Guerrant confirmed that the Title IX investigation had been going on for more than a month, but couldn’t say how many employees were under investigation.
Guerrant said she doesn’t believe any Michigan State University students are involved and added that there are MSU police department employees who are claimants in the matter.
O’Brien is also head of the university police department’s Field Services Bureau.
