Nassar loses first appeal of sentences

Convicted sexual molester Larry Nassar has lost his federal court appeal, the first of three appeals tied to his prison sentences.

In a court document released today the U.S. Court of Appeals upheld Nassar’s 60-year sentence for possessing child pornography.

Nassar’s attorney argued that it is unreasonable for the sentence to run consecutively with two other prisons for criminal sexual misconduct involving minors.

Nassar is also appealing his 40-175 year sentence in Ingham County and his 40-125 year sentence in Eaton County.

He was sentenced in those counties for criminal sexual conduct while he was working as a sports doctor at Michigan State University.

Nassar’s attorney is challenging the length of the sentences and that they be changed to run concurrently.
