Credit card spending up 39% from the same time last year

WASHINGTON D.C. – Consumer demand for auto loans, leases, credit cards, and personal loans was up 39% in June compared to the same month in 2020.

According to one credit-reporting firm — stimulus checks and unemployment benefits are contributing to the surge.

In addition, with vaccinations available and the economy reopening, experts say many Americans are newly confident in the economy after hunkering down last year.
