WLNS first broke the story on 6 news at noon, the body found earlier this week in Eaton Rapids Township is being investigated as a homicide.
Paul foster has lived in the area for 30 years. He said his neighbors are all shocked something like this could happen in their own backyard.
“Maybe seven, eight houses down our road,“ Foster said. “Everybody get’s along and yeah, it’s just a quite, quite little neighborhood.“
It wasn’t so quiet on Wednesday evening on the corner of Spruce Road and Wilbur Highway. A neighbor found the body in the woods nearby, which is not far from Foster’s home.
“We’ve actually had people drop of TV’s, they drop off cats and shingles,“ said Foster.“As far as bodies, no, this is a first.“
Eaton County Sheriffs are now working with MSU’s Anthropology Department and the Michigan State Police. They are helping to identity the victim with DNA and dental records.
“it‘s pretty crazy,“ Foster added. “It’s not normal.“
Where the body was found, there is a trail that goes through the woods. Foster says whoever put the body there knew where they were going.
“This has gotta be somebody that knows the area that basically figures this would be a good spot to dump a body because nobody walks back there,“ Foster said.
Foster said his neighbor came across the body.
“He’s okay,“ said Foster. “He’s doing good, but I’ve spoken with him and I’m sure it’s gonna bother him.“
If anyone knows anything about this investigation, come forward and help solve this case.
Foster said, “To ya know, give the family some type of closure because this is a missing girl, this is somebody’s child.“
