Northern lights may be visible in Michigan this week

Michigan residents may be able to see the northern lights on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, look for the northern lights early in the morning while it is still dark.

The Northern Lights typically can be seen in areas close to the North Pole and do not normally reach as far south as Mid-Michigan.

NOAA reports that three observed Coronal Mass Ejection events have taken place since May 10th and the first two are expected to arrive on May 15th.
