ROCHESTER HILLS, MI. (WLNS) – It flies, it swims and they call it a loon, but it’s not a bird.

In fact, it’s a machine and it won a team from Oakland University a million dollars.

The group took first place in an international drone building contest with the Loon Copter, which can travel through the air and underwater.

It’s the third prototype built by the school’s Embedded Systems Research Laboratory.
