MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLNS) – Meridian Township Police have identified a man following reports that someone was in the Red Cedar River in Okemos.

6 News reported last night that there might have been a possible drowning in the area.

Police say the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team along with the Meridian Township and East Lansing Fire Departments responded to the Dobie Road Bridge yesterday over the river just before 4 p.m.

They checked the river, and made contact with a man who acknowledged that he was in the area at the time of the reported person in the water.

The man said he sat down on the bridge for a short period of time, which lines up with when the witness saw a person going into the water.

At this time, Meridian Township Police are no longer looking for anyone in connection with this incident.
