JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. (WLNS) – Michigan State Police are investigating a crash that’s left a man in the hospital with serious injuries.
Police say the crash happened on I-94 at the Sandstone rest area in Jackson County just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
The driver was traveling Eastbound on I-94 when he ended up driving in to the grass area between the exit ramp and freeway.
Police say the driver hit a large pole that cut his car in half causing the drivers seat to end up in the backseat of the car.
The driver had to be cut from his vehicle and was taken by helicopter to a local hospital.
Authorities say alcohol is suspected but not confirmed.
The man suffered serious injuries but police say he’s expected to survive.
Michigan State Police are still investigating the crash.
