EAST LANSING, Mich (WLNS) - UPDATE: The East Lansing Police have now confirmed with 6 News that the man who was shot and killed early this morning was a student at Michigan State University. In the early stages of the investigation it was believed the Texas man was not enrolled at MSU but as more details were uncovered they were able to confirm he was enrolled. The investigation is continuing and no suspect has been identified as of yet.
ORIGINAL STORY : East Lansing police are investigating after a 22-year-old man was shot and killed early Friday morning.
It happened around 2:45 a.m. at an apartment complex along the 2500 block of Chandler Road.
Police got a call about people fighting and the sound of gunfire. They arrived to find the man with gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a hospital where he later died.
While the apartment complex is home to many MSU students, police say the victim was from Texas and not a student at the university
Police are continuing to investigate. They would not say if they had a suspect or if anyone was in custody. They would only say they believe the public at large is not in danger.
