(WLNS) – You’ll want to watch your speed and think twice before drinking and driving over the holiday weekend.

That’s because police will be out in full force on Michigan’s roads, highways and waterways.

They’ll be watching out for everything from drunk driving to distracted driving.

Their goal is to make sure that everyone celebrates the weekend instead of mourning it.

“Texting while driving the drunk driving all of the distracted driving as well as seat belt enforcement are things we’re looking for this weekend,” said Michigan State Police Trooper Tedric Gibbs.

It’s not just the Michigan State Police.

More than 100 agencies will have extra patrols out there this weekend.
