A quick burst of weather is causing accidents across mid-Michigan, making travel treacherous.

Officials have already shut down traffic along eastbound Interstate 496 between U.S. 127 and Pennsylvania.

The southbound lanes of U.S. 127 are also closed near Covert Road (mile marker 59) because of an accident. That’s near the Ingham/Jackson county line.

There are unconfirmed reports of numerous, multi-car accidents on Interstate 96 between Okemos (exit 110) and Williamston (exit 117).

While the reports are not confirmed, the 6 News Traffic Tracker shows traffic is slow or not moving at all in that area.

We have a crew headed that way and will update this story as we learn more information.

Remember, you can always check live traffic conditions at any time at www.wlns.com/traffic. We also have a live traffic tracker on the 6 News app.
