Registrations open for first-ever Izzo Legacy Run/Walk

EAST LANSING, Mich (WLNS) - Whether you're an experienced runner or someone stepping out for the first time as a walker, circle Saturday, April 13 on your calendar.

That is the date that the first-ever Izzo Legacy Run/Walk takes place on the campus of Michigan State University.

Tom and Lupe Izzo, along with Auto-Owners, are hosting the event in just over two months.

WLNS-TV 6 is also pleased to be a partner in the inaugural event.

The day begins at 9:00 a.m. with a "3 Point 5K" and a "Slam Dunk 1 Mile Walk".  

Kids can get involved too with the "Future Spartan Half Mile Children's Race" and the "Spartan Sprint Children's Race" that begin just after 10:00 a.m.

You can also participate by not even being at the race.  There is a "Virtual Izzo" race that will be availabe online on raceday.

The 5k and Mile Walk will start at the Breslin Center near the Hall of History, pass by Jenison Field House, Old College Field, Sparty, Ralph Young Track and Field, and finish outside of Spartan Stadium.

Upon completion, participants will be able to take a Victory Lap around the field before the Spring Football Game.
