Renters furious about living conditions of apartment complex

News

Renters at the Porter Senior Apartments are saying their complex is unlivable.

Tenants say that they deal with cockroaches, bed bugs, leaking ceilings, rats and now no heat or water. The heat and water issue is said to be the result of a major leak in the basement of the building.

“It’s not fair to the residents that live here, especially the elderly, to have to live like that…to be so cold and not have what they deserve,” said renter Patti Vanness.

Residents at the complex said they are tired of not being listened too about their living conditions and hope someone can do something soon. Many people also said that they are thankful of the new maintenance that just got hired, but feel there is a lot of work to do.

“I don’t know what the deal is, but they need to get everything repaired and at least get it livable,” said one Porter Senior Apartment tenant.

Many residents were afraid to speak up in fear of being evicted.

There was an inspector on scene when WLNS-TV was at the complex, but was unable to give any updates on the condition of the building. On scene staff at the apartment were unable to comment and finding a phone number for corporate was unsuccessful.
