LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – A fire that started in an auto salvage yard escalated into a grass fire when the flames jumped a fence line in Lansing.

The fire began just after 3:30 p.m. at the One Stop Auto on Baker Street when a salvaged car caught fire.

Firefighters worked to contain the flames inside the salvage yard but the fire spread to an empty field behind the Hager-Fox building.

Baker Street between Cedar Street and Washington Avenue was closed while crews fought the fire.

There were no reports of injuries and investigators are looking for the cause of the fire.
