Standoff ends: Suspect was wanted by police

GRAND LEDGE - A man wanted for assaulting a police officer gave up on Tuesday after a five hour standoff in Grand Ledge.

Robert Toth gave up peacefully after spending the late morning and early afternoon in a truck near the intersection of Clinton and Orchard Streets.

The standoff started at around 10 a.m. and ended around 3 p.m.

Officers from the Michigan State Police, Eaton County Sheriff's Office, Grand Ledge Police and the Michigan State Unversity K-9 team were on the scene.

Lansing Township police say an officer was trying to arrest Toth on outstanding warrants when Toth broke free, taking the officer's Taser and wearing one handcuff.

6 News was on the scene all day and will have the latest details at 5 & 6 p.m.
