LANSING, MI (WLNS) – A 16-year old is facing open murder and robbery charges after officials found a 45-year-old man with a gunshot wound back in December, 2015.
It happened around 10 p.m. in the 4300 block of Chadburne Drive on Dec. 7, 2015. Officers were called to a home on Lansing’s southwest side after they were told a car hit the house.
When officers arrived they found the driver had a gunshot wound. The driver, 45-year-old Jeffrey Alexander Capers of Trenton died later at the hospital.
Now 16-year-old Jquan Dshawn Brinkley is charged with one count of homicide – open murder, a felony and two counts of unarmed robbery, also felonies. Brinkley’s bond was denied.
Brinkley’s pre-exam conference is scheduled for later in January with his preliminary hearing following in February.
Lansing Police say there is at least one additional suspect who will be charged. The suspect’s name has not been released at this time.
The investigation is still ongoing.
