LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – A group of everyday heroes were recognized and awarded Tuesday night.
The 100 Club of Greater Lansing honored six local law enforcement officials for their work in the community.
Deputy Joseph Travis, the recipient of the Heroism Award, talked about what the recognition means to him.
“We’re out doing a job just like everybody does each and every day,” said Deputy Travis. “It means the world to me.”
“These are the kind of things that our police officers and our firefighters do day in and day out and are rarely recognized for”, added Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth.
The 100 Club of Greater Lansing provides assistance to the families of police, sheriff and fire officials who are killed in the line of duty in Ingham, Clinton and Eaton counties.
