This Morning: Approved justice millage improves jail and adds programming for inmates

News

Last week voters approved a millage to help fund administrative officer, court facilities, and a new jail in Ingham County.

Nearly 55% of voters approved the millage to fund the project.

The tax will cost the owner of a home with a value of around $100,000 about $85 a year.

Not only will that help build a new facility, but a portion of the tax will also help fund programs designed to keep people out of jail.

Those programs may include things like counseling, peer support, and parenting coursees.

6-News Veronica Gabriel takes a tour of a part of the current Ingham County Jail that’s closed with Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth.
