This Morning: Greater Lansing Balloon Festival takes flight this weekend

News

All eyes will be on the skies this weekend for the Greater Lansing Balloon Festival.

Hot air balloons will take off from the Hope Sports Complex starting tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Proceeds raised from this year’s event will go to the Lansing Promise Scholarship Fund.

The Lansing Promise is a scholarship program offering tuition assistance for post-secondary (college or skilled trade) education to all eligible high school graduates within the Lansing School District boundaries.

The Promise provides tuition assistance for up to 65 credits at Lansing Community College or the equivalent dollar amount toward tuition and fees at Michigan State University or Olivet College.

Organizers say bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the show but keep the tents, pets, drones, and alcohol at home.

Entrance is $10 for parking.

The event will take place Friday, August 24th from 4pm – 9pm and Saturday, August 25th from 2pm – 9pm.
