This Morning: Local gym partners with “Go Teal” movement to emphasize sexual assault awareness

News

According to it’s Facebook event, to honor sexual assault awareness month, EmPOWer gym in Lansing is “going teal” on Friday, April 5 by partnering with Go Teal, a movement that emphasizes the importance of sexual assault awareness, prevention, and response.

A team of trainers at emPOWer gym will instruct a free, one-hour empowerment workout class open to members and the public which aims to create awareness around the issue of sexual violence and build a community of support and resilience.

The empower class will take place from 6-7PM.

After the empowerment workshop, the event will be moving the event next door to Strange Matter Coffee for the “open mic” portion of the night from 7-9PM where the Go Teal team and other members of the community will be able to speak about their involvement in sexual assault awareness, provide resources to survivors, recite a poem about sexual assault awareness, or speak about their experiences.
