THIS MORNING: Michigan Challenge Balloonfest takes flight this weekend

Pilots from around the country are headed to Howell this weekend for the 34th annual Michigan Challenge Balloonfest.

Nearly 50 hot air balloons will take to the skies, weather permitting, for three days of family fun.

Some of the nation’s top pilots will fly in to compete for the title of Michigan Challenge Champion. 

Five mass balloon launches are scheduled to take place throughout the weekend.. depending on the weather.

Visitors can also check out other attractions including an art’s festival, family fun tent, morning yoga, carnival and more.

The event will take place at Howell High School June 22, 23, and 24.
