This Morning : ‘What Floats Your Cardboard Boat?’ Race Preview

(WLNS) — What floats your boat? For 16 teams entered in a Friday race the answer is duct tape and cardboard.

The United Way of Jackson County is hosting their 5th Annual ‘What Floats Your Cardboard Boat?” Race to kick off their Fall campaign.

Beth Shafer, Director of Resource Development, says the un-steadiness boaters feel during the race is the same un-steadiness that families in poverty feel from day-to-day.

According to the United Way website, 41 percent of Jackson County is living near the poverty line.

The ‘What Floats Your Cardboard Boat’ Race takes off from the pond at Cascade Falls Park in Jackson today at 4:00 p.m.
