Bath Township barn fire_147100

A bunch of farm animals, including more than a dozen goats, were killed after a fire ripped through a barn in Victor Township, near Bath Township on Tuesday night.

Firefighters got the call around 6:30 p.m. along the 10000 block of Upton Road. About six different fire departments responded.

Smoke from the fire could be seen from the WLNS-TV towercam miles away.

The daughter of the owner tells 6 News they lost several animals – goats and cattle – as well as lots of equipment.

Firefighters from Bath Township and DeWitt did their best to put the flames out, even pumping water from a nearby river into tankers to help them fight the fire.

It’s not the first disaster at that location. The owner’s daughter says a barn on the site was wiped out by a tornado 39 years ago.

Investigators are still working to determine what sparked the fire.
