Owners of a rental house in the Upper Peninsula reached a deal with the local utility company on a water bill for $18,709.

Ashley and Matt Cody still owe about $2,500 after about 1 million gallons leaked from a broken pipe at a rental property in Ishpeming. The bill can be paid without interest over 12 months.

A tenant and the city were not aware of the two-month spill in the home’s crawl space.

Ashley Cody says city leaders have been “extremely accommodating.”
