CLINTON COUNTY, MI (WLNS) – Wednesday marks the 89th anniversary of the Bath School bombing in Clinton County, which is considered the worst school massacre in America.
Andrew Kehoe was upset over the increase in property taxes in the area.
Around 8:30 a.m. May 18, 1927, Kehoe killed his wife and blew up their home.
Then he blew up the school, killing students and teachers.
About a half hour later Kehoe got in an argument with the superintendent and blew up his car, killing himself, the superintendent and another second grader.
In total, 45 people died that morning.
On Wednesday, Bath High School teachers and students talked about why this event is important to remember.
