ORANGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) —  A woman is dead after a head-on crash in Ionia County Wednesday morning.

It happened around 9:48 a.m. on E. Grand River Avenue near Ionia Road in Orange Township, west of Portland.

The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office says an eastbound car driven by a 22-year-old Lansing woman failed to follow a curve in the road and drove straight into the path of a westbound utility truck.

The woman died at the scene. The driver and passenger in the utility truck were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The crash closed Grand River Avenue between Keefer Highway and Gregory Road as crews worked to investigate the crash and clean up the wreckage.

It’s unclear what led up to the crash; investigators say alcohol is not believed to be a factor and everyone was wearing a seat belt.

The sheriff’s office is withholding the driver’s name until all of her relatives have been notified.
