LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – “Back to school” is much different this year than ever before.

Some kids will go back to class while others will learn from home.

But no matter what your situation is, 6 News is Here for You and working to keep our students safe.

And that’s why this week 6 News is kicking-off a new series of back to school safety reports.

If your kids are going back to in-person instruction, we have some reminders to help you keep them safe.
6 News anchor Lauren Thompson will help answer questions, like: is a packed lunch better than school food? And, should your kids use a drinking fountain?

“Definitely having your own water bottle if you can have one is better,” says Nike Shoyinka, director of the Ingham County Public Health Service.

We’ll also share some insight on how to protect their mental health as they deal with all the changes.

Be sure to join us this Thursday for the start of our “Safe Kids 2020” campaign.
